SPAL Automotive is well recognised for its range of high quality and reliable electric fans and blowers for thermal management and HVAC in low voltage applications. Now with a growing demand arising from vehicle electrification and the use of high-capacity batteries, SPAL has introduced a new range of products that will respond to these specific cooling needs.
High Voltage fans developed by SPAL, typically require less current to achieve the same power output as low voltage fans along with lower energy loss. This means high voltage fans are often more energy-efficient; one of the key criteria for makers of EVs, since this extends the vehicle range or the time the EV machine can function on a single charge.
Pawel Cierniak, Business Development Manager for OEMs, explains: “HV fans offer better performance with less energy consumed because they can move the same volume of air (or even more) with less power consumption, making them a good choice for larger cooling applications. With the use of HV batteries on vehicles, it is easier and cheaper to integrate HV fans since they can operate within the same voltage range as the batteries and reduce the need for DC/DC converters.
“On top of that, SPAL has recently introduced a new line of products for battery and fuel cell thermal management. The water pump, currently available in 12V and 24V, is an ideal choice for EV applications and increasingly specified in stationary applications such as data centre racks requiring a liquid cooling system.”
